It has been said that strong women wear their pain like stilettos. No matter how much it hurts, all you see is the beauty of it.
However, beauty does not always need to have pain in connotation. In this regard, if you have a penchant and flair for wearing heels, this does not always have to mean subjecting your feet to hours upon hours of torturous pain. After all, like they said, true beauty is effortless and pain-free. So, what is a girl to do when she has a unique love affair with beautiful shoes that are otherwise painful to wear? - Wear the right size
When it comes to feet comfort, size is paramount. This is especially true when you are wearing heels. Remember, feet tend to swell when you have been wearing closed shoes for a long period of time. If your heels are already snug as it is, then you are sure to experience discomfort even just after a few hours of wear. The longer you wear, the more pronounced your discomfort and pain would be. So, with this in mind, always wear the right size for you.
- Choose a bit of platform
There is no doubt that strappy and skinny stilettos would look far more attractive than chunkier heels. But if you wish to wear them the entire day, this might not be the most practical shoes to wear in your closet. Be realistic about the shoe you would be wearing and make sure it is appropriate for the kind of wear you would be subjecting it to. If you intend to wear it for an extended period of time, choose ones with rubber on the bottom so as to act as a buffer. Ideally, your platform heels should also have a bit of a platform in front as well in order to effectively reduce the incline of your foot.
- Add more cushion
Give your soles a bit more TLC by adding extra cushion inside your platform shoes. You can easily buy inserts from any shoe store and they come in many variants, choose one that makes you feel the most comfortable. In this regard, you may find that you would be able to wear your platform heels for far longer than you would have had it not been for the store-bought inserts.
- Lead with your thighs
Instead of letting your feet lead the way, distribute your weight evenly and have your thigh lead the way by moving your entire leg forward. It might take a bit of practice and at first your gait might seem a little awkward and off but once you have mastered it, you will find that the subtle sway you produce makes you more feminine and graceful. It is important to walk this way as you would effectively be putting less pressure on the ball of your foot.
- Take Breaks
Everyone once in a while, sit down—especially when your feet start to hurt. In fact, if they become unbearably painful, have your feet relax by taking them off for a minute or two. Let your feet breathe and do yourself a favor by giving them little breaks every now and then. Sit down whenever possible and if you can, take off your shoes for a bit.
